which PowerPoint version do you use? It should be possible with trigger
animations in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003.

Kind regards,
Ute

using 97 - it does the job - normally!

thanks

I ahve the same problem - as you know luna as ive spoke over email regarding
this

although i do have access to 2002 and 2003 - my skills in powerpoint are
severley lacking

any help with these trigger animations would be greatly appreciated

Do you need info on using the trigger animations to stop and start
multimedia, or do you just need info on triggers with regular "object"
animations?

just need to know how to trigger a sound using a keypress - eg press A for
one sound B for another etc.

cheers

Hi Mike,

1. Insert your sound, when asked whether to start it automatically, answer
"When clicked on it" (Sorry, I don't know the exact wording in the English
version)
2. Insert the object you want to click on.
3. Open the Animation Task Pane.
4. Click on that little grey triangle right beside the sound name in the
list, choose "Timing"
5. Trigger should already be set, but to the sound itself. Change to the
other object by choosing from list.

That's it!

Mark/Luna,

you'll not find these trigger animations in your version. And I don't know
any workaround. Might be possible by using VBA programming, but I know too
little about that. SORRY!

Kind regards,
Ute

As Ute explained, I don't think you can trigger a sound in PPT 97. Well,
not exactly.

If your sound is a WAV file, though, you can do the following:

1. Create an object of any kind -- maybe use an autoshape rectangle.
2. Right-click the rectangle and choose action setting
3. In the "on mouse click" box, choose Play Sound
4. Select "other sound" from the Play Sound drop down box
5. Navigate to your sound, click OK
6. Click OK to close the action setting dialog

To stop the sound, use the same steps, except in step 4, choose "stop
previous sound."

I don't know that you can do this with just a keypress, though. You'd
need either a mouse click or at least a mouse over.

Here's how to use the triggers for multimedia in PPT 2002 and 2003.

This talks about with a movie, but the steps would be very similar for a
sound.

Again, though, I don't know that this can be done with a keystroke.
