A site I visited downloaded (but thankfully didnt run) a file with an icon
that looks like the icon for an internet explorer web link/page (i.e. the
document with the blue E on it) except the E has been edited to look like a C.
It says its a "content access plugin" and is called various random names
(it changed next time I went back) but always with a .exe on the end.
Anyone know what this is and if its dangerous? And how to make sure that it
didnt somehow run behind my back?

Best advice is run anti-virus to check the hard drive

I run AVG and it didnt pick anything up. Neither did Spybot or Ad-Aware.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of this specific piece of malware.

As Eric suggested...

Please submit a sample of that EXE file to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against many different AV vendor's scanners.
That will give you an idea what it is and who recognizes it. In addition, unless told
otherwise, Virus Total will provide the sample to all participating vendors.

You can also submit a suspect, one at a time, via the following email URL...
mailto:[email protected]?subject=SCAN

When you get the report, please post back the exact results.
