hi i was wondering weather using my friends copy of vista and just
installing without a serial would be legal. i ask this beacuse i have a copy
of home premium comming (eventually) and i want to use vista now, so coulndt
i just insert my serial when it comes (2 weeks) ???

FYI: he has a home premium DVD as well so it will be the same package as the

Yeah, that would work and be perfectly in line with the EULA. Whether or
not the EULA is legal, well, that has yet to be decided by the courts
because MS hasn't the cojones to take anyone to court over it.

yes, it is not the media that one buys, but the License, so in theory you
can use the same disk and install it on 100 PCs, sure. But you will need 100
individual Keys.

But Upgrade editions need upgrade-keys and full editions need their own
keys. Be aware, if you install the wrong vista edition and your key later is
not accepted, you will have to reformat ( or buy online a new key ).

Yes that is fine. In practice, when buyng Vista you buy the license, not
the media. Your friend can lend his Premium disc to 100 people providing
they al purchase their own key.

Yes, you can do that. Just be sure you pick Home Premium during
the installation. The Vista DVD install disk comes with all versions,
the key unlocks what is to be installed.
