My firewall (Sysgate) has repeatedly asked me if I will allow the following
file, C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exe, to access the Internet. This file is
not familar to me, and I believe it may be part of my XP Pro operating
system. Should I allow it access to the Internet? Is it wanting to check
for updates? I recently had my Internet Browser hijacked, and had to reload
my XP operating system to remove the virus. I am now leary of opening a door
for another virus to attack my system. I am also running AVG antivirus
software, and have Service Pack 2 installed.
Thanks.

This is a good resource:

Note the top 5 processes in the lower left!

As for the "csrss.exe":
It is the Client Server Runtime Process. It is a critical system process
that is invoked at boottime.
You may need to have this file allowed access to the Internet for some
applications to work properly.
