Hi all,

Not really sure if this is a topic for this ng or not, but, if not, I'm sure
someone will be most happy to let me know...;-)))

I have been experiencing a problem the last few days with my window screens
suddenly minimizing. They just minimize without any error or anything. It
only happens when I'm in IE, OE or Windows Explorer. It does not happen
when I am working in a program.

I have been told that is due to my cordless meece...because of the
following: Solar flares, regular radio waves, a ham radio interference in
the area, my cooking....???

Anyway...I am not sure which, if any, of these reasons might actually
contribute to the possibility of the problem. I have also experienced the
mouse acting sorta weird.. like... the mouse cursor just floating all over
the place out of control, suddenly going to an unselected website when I
didn't select anything when I was on the Internet.

I've run Spybot, AdAware, my AV, and the House Calls, Trend Micro in
addition to be sure, and nothing in the way of virimi or wormi have been
detected (I updated all again before I ran them to make sure I had the
latest files)

I'm just trying to cover as many basis of troubleshooting the problem as I
can, so, thought I might as well toss this into the pot here and see if
there might be any others who might have had a similar experience, and
perhaps what they found as the cause.

Any suggestions would truly be appreciated.

Best regards,

Jan :)

You forgot the mutant space goats.

What the hell are "cordless meece" anyway? Have you thought setting
traps, or putting down poison?

Jan II,

I would suggest that you simply try using a serial port, a mouse port, or
USB port "plug-in" mouse and see if the problem is resolved.

And check for a sticky keyboard

It's only a week or so old...so I haven't had a chance to get much slop on
it yet...but, I'll double check.

But, why would that cause that type of problem? Just curious ya
know....just curious of me. 'Cause, I do not know these things...no....I do
not know these things, you see.

Oh no...they're in the garage. It's just been way too smokey 'round these
parts to let 'em out. So, they haven't been able to send out any signals
lately.

Ahmm...Roy...do you still call home via two tin cans with a string between
'em?? ;-)))

S'a cordless mousie...2 of them are meece, several of them are mices. If you
have more than several, you need to call the Orkin Man. But...you may need
a cordless phone for that...I don't think they still answer tin can
vibrations.

See?

Yes, I did test this with my old cord one, and it did seem to cut down the
number of times this happened. But, it still happened. I have the sensor
portion of the cordless one plugged into the USB port, although, I have an
adaptor for the mouse port, and I tried that too. But, I sitll get the Bum's
Rush out of the windows. It just seems odd that it does not happen when I am
working in a program such as Word or Access. Only when it OE and IE, and
once in a while in Explorer. It may well be anything, I'm just trying to
narrow down as many possibilities as I can that could be causing the
problem, such as something lurking somewhere I can find.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

'k...Dirk...I downloaded and ran the HijackThis from the site you
provided....and when I ran it I found something in the list I don't
recognize. I am not sure what this is, and it does not *seem* to relate to
the other known program stuff I saw that looked legit.

When I clicked the Info button, it said it was 016 - DPF:
(AEFD2B-4815-11D2-98E4-00C04FCEFE77) -
http://www.hottelephone.com/SnC.cab

I don't know anything about what hottelephone.com/SnC.cab is. I ran a
Search of my system and I can not find any file anywhere called SnC.cab. Is
this a legit file???

Thank you very much for you time and help.

Not sure that posting the whole wazoolie of the log here might be an ok
thing...and..I don't mean to seem like a wise girl.....but, am I right in
assuming that your e-mail addy here is not quite the real McCoy...??

So, I have copied just the line from the log for the hottelephone file
below....

O16 - DPF: {AEFD32B6-4815-11D2-98E4-00C04FCEFE77} -

I have tried to access this site, but it is not a valid site...which I
figured was a "Duh!"...but, to cover all bases...'k..?? :-)

Thank you for all your help.

I just came in on the end of this, but it looks like someone used your
computer to sign up with a "telephone over internet" service that might
have been a scam. According to one user, the "service" was touted as
free, but when you signed up you were asked to make an "initial deposit"
(for a free service?), because the service was no longer free. This was
because "hottelephone.com has merged with hottelelink.com." For my
money, and probably for any other sucker's, this one has 'scam' written
all over it. Why am I using past tense? Because I cannot find a live web
page for either hottelephone.com or hottelelink.com. This suggests that
the company was at best a fly-by-night, and at worse, an idenity/credit
card number theft ring.

I never signed up for anything like that, and I never went to this
site. There is only one PC in the house, and I am the only user. If
someone or some thing went there or planted the thing on my computer,
then I am totally unaware of it. I never saw it before I ran the
HijackThis and it showed up in the list. It never showed up in my
SpyBot or AdAware. I tried to go to the site too, but, could not find
nothing. One of the experts on the HijackThis forum where they read
the log for me said he found out info about it here;
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,14291,00.asp

I can tell you for sure that I would never knowingly order anything
like that, and have since deleted that whatever it was. I might be a
bit drafty 'twix the ears, but, I ain't stupid. ;-))

Thank you for your time and the additional information on this outfit.

Jan :)
