Is there no way to escape AOL???

I just installed, on my new build, the drivers and software for my Audigy 2
soundcard. After all is done I ended up with a shortcut to AOL on my desktop,
which I promptly deleted. However, I then did a search for files that have aol
in them using the Windows utility and, needless to say, 5 or 6 files and
folders located in various locations showed up. Is it safe to delete these or
are they somehow entwined with the Audigy 2 software (as they are located in
obscure locations, not on my program menu, in different locations) and would it
somehow be problematic to the software I want to randomely delete these files
that show up in the search???

Very irritating that AOL is...did not ask any permission at all.

Yeh.Dump em.Doesn't affect the card's.It's just another crappy tie-in
deal that Creative did with AOL.

I'll NEVER buy another creative product. Their driver support is awful. I
tried to get some -new- drivers for a live card and it's like pulling
teeth, none work and says "no card found" when it's installed and has old
drivers in place! Found some newer ones on another factory CD but doesn't
seem to be able to download drivers anymore. What BS!Now they try to
install AOL? LOL!!

M-Audio Revolution 7.1....awesome card, good tech support, stable drivers,
works and plays well with others.

I have to agree.I've used creative stuff for years but their drivers
and software additions have become larger than the full win95 install
disk :O
PS
I tried a 5.1 and went back to my cheap Creative PCI 128.Way better
sound quality and the drivers and software are small and work.Little
gem of a card and wanted to buy one as a back-up but can'e seem to
find them now :(
Shame as it was only £15 UKP when I bought it some years ago.
ran side by side test with a 5.1 and the sound quality is much better
and for such a cheap card :/

ever since i went with a £50UKP videologic SFX card i`ve never looked back.
espeically when it was more stable than a £150UPK CL Live! card my dad was
using.

recommend videologic - the Xplosion cards have 2 install files. one with
soundfonts, one without. the 'lite' version is about 3.5mb. downloadable for
those with 56k!!! and they dont do tie-in agreements with ISP's etc.

You have been updated.Install cannot be removed :O

This reminds me of the old Windows - OS/2 battle. IBM install: "Windows has
been detected on this system. Do you want to install a dual boot system?"
Microsoft install: "OS/2 has been detected on this system. It will be
deleted."

Same with linux today. Install windows AFTER linux and the bootloader is
over written to windows only.. Install linux after windows and it dual
boots either.
