Is there any way to get a COUNT of the new emails that Outlook has
waiting when you get back to your Windows XP PC?

I have a little envelope that tells me there are new emails, and I get
the little transparent popup that comes up for a few seconds when the
new email comes in, and a sound is played ... but nothing tells me HOW
MANY new emails I have (without opening up Outlook).

Is there freeware that provides a COUNT of the new unopened email
messages?

PopTray 3.2 (mail notifier) does that.

PopTray 3.2 (mail notifier) does that.

I first tried Yahoo plugins at Softpedia - but they require too much
ancillary Yahoo interpreters
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Windows-Widgets/Widget-Miscellaneous/Outlook-Mail.shtml'

So, PopTray, which was a simple installation, looked like it might
work.

But, um ... am I missing some setting somewhere on PopTray freeware to
get it to show the COUNT of incoming messages?

PopTray puts a white envelope in my system tray but it never puts a
NUMBER on top of that envelope that shows HOW MANY messages are
waiting to be opened.

Did I miss a PopTray setting or two?

2nd feature down (below), shows that it does. I have it uninstalled right
now having reverted back to 'Mailwasher', but I'll re-install to find the
settings you are missing & post back.

Here are some key features of "PopTray":

· Unlimited number of Accounts
· Show number of messages directly on the TrayIcon (rotating by account)
· Quickly preview a message
· Delete messages from the server without downloading them
· Rules that identify a message according to your criteria, then does one of
these actions:
· Play different notification sound
· Delete from the server
· Run any EXE file
· Mark as Spam
· Configurable Hot-keys/Mouse-Buttons/Command-Line options for most
functions
· Plug-in Support:
· Protocol plug-ins (e.g. IMAP4, POP3SSL, Hotmail, etc.)
· Notify plug-ins (e.g. Flashing scroll-lock light)
· Spam management using rules and white/black lists
· Mulitple notfications (play sound, pop-up, etc)
· Translated into 30+ languages
· Complete Install / Uninstall

S / I,

Here it is, in "General Options"

Animated Tray Icon Animate the Tray Icon when you receive new
mail. This will produce a flashing indicator instead of the normal static
one.
Rotate Icon for each Account Animated Tray Icon rotating to show
the number of messages in each account. The account the messages are in can
be identified by the color of the circle.

hope that helps
