I've just bought an external CDRW with USB 2.0 capbilites. Now I find out
that my computer USB hub isn't "enhanced", which I assume means it's only
1.1. The driver is supposed to run up to 52 speed write. I can only get it
at about 8 speed max.

Any help would be most appreciated.

.You can install a USB 2 PCI card - they are fairly
cheap, tend to offer both USB 2 and Firewire. The one I
installed worked without any hassle as soon as I
installed it.

It's a laptop, they're aren't any PCI slots. I'm really pi**ed off. I only
bought the damn thing because I've got a SCSI driver that works perfectly
well that I can't use.

any other suggestions? Please. Thanks for getting back.

Does the laptop have Firewire? You could use that for CDRW instead of
USB! Otherwise you will have to use a PCMCIA type CDRW drive...

You should be able to get a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.
