I can slide existing tabs (but this is not precise enough)
I can make new tabstops
I can delete old ones

but i cant edit existing ones? (i attempt to, it creates a new one)

It is true that there's no way to *change* a tab setting through the Tabs
dialog, and you can't even fine-tune them because if you try to set a tab
too close to an existing one, the setting doesn't "take" unless you delete
the existing one first. What you might find helpful, therefore, is to press
Alt while dragging the tab. This not only allows you to drag the tab stop in
finer increments but also displays the measurement so that you can set it
more precisely.
