I use the built in one, it works well, and is not a CPU hog and does not
cause any noticeable latency problems, like all the 3rd party ones exhibit.

But that protect only incoming traffic. Outgoing traffic is not protect same
way(so good). So you have to use another, 3rd party software. That is my
opinion.

I'm not concerned for scanning outgoing traffic, as everything on my PC
is authorised by me, virus and trojans/spyware never get onto my system
in the 1st place...

You must be using something other than IE then.

Not at all, use IE 6SP2, I just know how to click the NO don't install
this ActiveX controll button, rather than the Yes button.

Anyone that gets spyware or viruses is a total idiot...

As expected, I can't for the life of me remember whether I clicked the
"Yes" or the "No" button on the ActiveX, when I installed SP2. Would you
please tell me how I can check this, and how I the setting can be changed?
Thanks.

Ooooo... sounds like a chalange to me. Now you'll have any hacker with eye
shot knocking at your door.

Indeed. But you have to take into the account there are still people out
there who are absolutely confounded when faced with a Yes/No scenerio.

They would probably be served better by a Yes/No/What the #@#@#? scenario :)

Firewall

Everybody posts the same answers on all 8 zillion forums..The old tiny64.. Commodo..Ghost.. BUT Ashampoo free works, and it's good.. so RUN and get it.. (Yes Ashampoo free firewall not their other products..) PS. I was down with Commodo but it adds way too much (Like virtual NIC cards) and is a Norton like monster..But I digress..
