Is there an easy way of making an image viewable but not copyable on a publicly accesible site e.g.

I have some copyrighted images that I would like people to see
unaltered, but not to download or save. Is there anyway of doing this
on a website like My Space or hi 5?

Thanks,

Cas

Hello,

No. Anyone can just hit the print screen button and capture your image. If
you try to disable it via JavaScript (not sure whether that's possible), the
user can just disable JavaScript too.

Ways to *discourage* image stealing
- put copyright notices
- watermark images with your logo
- digitally watermark images (will not discourage, but allows you to track
online usage)
- put message alert on right-click for the first time, as the user may have
other intentions
- place image as a background of a cell with a cell inside (makes it hard to
copy the image directly, but print screen still works)
- and many more..

OK, thanks for that. However, if I could just disabled right-click
saving that would be enough. Is that possible in a My Space style
site?

Hi Caseem,

I think you don't need to bother about disabling the right-click. A user can
do File Save and will have all the images...

Kind regards

Hans

Thanks to all who replied. As the general consensus is 'dont bother',
I guess that is what I will do :-)
