is there an advantage to a new color inkjet printer

I have the Epson Stylus Photo 700 printer. Possibly 4 years old. It
works, but I find the constant replacing of ink cartridges a real
pain.

Question, is there any advantage to junking it and buying a new Canon,
HP, or Epson printer? We print no more than 6 pages of color work a
month. We use a lasterjet printer for black on white printing.

All opinions welcomed!

You dont say what kind of printing. For "photo-quality", things have
evolved a lot since the 700. Do you need anything wider than 81/2 x
11?

Any printer needs to have its cartridges changed--unless you buy a
continuous feed system.

If in doubt, some of the newer photo printers are really cheap (The
cost is in the ink and paper)

If you are only doing six pages of color a month, it's difficult to see how you
are constantly replacing cartridges - even if the pages are full color photos.

In any case, you won't see any improvement in the newer printers. In fact, at
least in the case of HP, the newer printers require the use of cartridges that
hold less ink than the older ones. An interesting way of doubling the cost per
page in a not so obvious way...

If you already have a laser and don't *have* to have color, I would dump
the ij and never look back. The second-saddest of all my PC experiences
was the death of my beloved IBM 4029 Postscript laser; the saddest was
its inkjet "replacement" (replacement NOT).

his carts are drying. I print then put the color cart in a Ziploc bag,
press the excess air out and zip tight. if I had a laser, I guess I'd be
doing the same with *all/both* the inkjet carts after doing a print.
