Is there a workgroup security problem when using Access on XP%3f

We use a security protocol based on user and group account permissions.
Previously we were using Access 2000 on a Windows 2000 platform. Everything
was working fine until several stations were replaced with Windows XP
platforms, still using Access 2000. Now, when using a shortcut taking the
user to the security screen, when they type in their password it comes back
as invalid. Their passwords are valid on stations which continue to run
Windows 2000.
Is there something which must be changed when using Windows XP and Access
2000?

I've not heard of such an issue. They are certain their caps lock is on/off
accordingly? Does the error come back saying wrong username or wrong
password?

The initial time that the login dialog pops up on a new installation, it
will grab the windows username (which often isn't the same as the Access
username).
