Heyna

Hi All;
Thanks for the help I've gotten on this site; it has been invaluable i
man-hours for me.
I've kind of painted myself into a corner. I made a lot of named list
by selecting a list of names and then typing in a name for that list i
the name box. This allows me to have multiple lists that are named, s
I can make a list of those names to be used with a larger list, say, t
be used within a validation cell. The problem comes with a change i
execution from higer-up that wants some of these lists to be combine
into one group. an example: apples is one named list, oranges i
another. Nw we want one list called apples and oranges, and we wan
both lists to be included. Unfortunately, you can't seem to just pic
the name from the name box, select what you want included, and hi
enter and change it. They seem set in stone. Since I don't want
choices available for each mistake I made (apples, oranges, apples an
oranges) Do I need to delete the two obsolete named lists (not sur
exactly how to do that) or is tere a simpler answer to this? There's
ton of work in this ridiculously large database I've made; I'd hate t
have to start again over semantics...
Many thanks,
Scot

From the main menu in Excel...
Insert / Name / Define...
Select your Name and edit the "Refers to:" box. Click "Add" when satisfied
with your changes, then OK. If you make a mistake just click the "Close"
button or the upper right corner of the Define Name window (the X) and start
over.

The "Refers to:" box isn't what I consider friendly; use the mouse to position
your cursor in that box and not the cursor control keys other wise it will end
up selecting cells on the worksheet :-(

You can alter defined names by going to Insert > Name >
Define, or simply pressing Ctrl+F3.

It becomes "friendly" *IF*, after you click in it, you simply hit F2
(edit ), and then do whatever!

A tip. When in the refers to box, hit F2 to go into Edit mode.

Now you can use the arrow keys to move within the box.
