Hi there. Is there a way to edit windows color schemes? If I liked
everything about a color scheme except for one or two colors, can I edit the
file or registry or something?

Thank you in advance.

In 'Classis' mode you can alter the colours as you would under 9x/2000/NT.
The alteration of colours in XP format requires the purchase of a 3rd-party
editor, such as TGT Soft's StyleXP or Style Builder or Stardock's Windows
Blinds.

Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties. Go to the Appearance tab
and click the Advanced button. You can make changes there. I usually change
the screen fonts and change the font colors. I also like to make the Title
bars and scroll area a little narrower. On the Themes tab you can save your
theme so you can restore it when you need to.

Thank you for your reply, but I need to change color properties of something
that's not listed in the "item" list. I too, make the title and scroll bars
more presentable.

:)

I wanted to change one of the existing color schemes installed by styleXP.
And it's the explorer bar (the column running along the left side of any
file explorer/control panel window that displays information about whatever
it is you are browsing. e.g. if a picture file is selected in the windows
explorer window on the right pane, a small preview would appear at the
bottom of this column .) background color.
