Hello,
I have searched the forum and didn't find anything. I am using Outlook 2000
with an Exchange 2000 Server. Is there any way to detach an attachment from
an email? Many times, I just want to save the text of the message but
delete the attachment. I have forwarded the email to myself, deleting the
attachment before sending, but then I essentially lose the "from" tag.

Thanks for any help on this.

Sandy

Open the mail-> rightclick the attachment-> choose Remove. Save and close
the mail :-)

Thank you so much.

Somehow I had missed this - I had previous tried when using Preview Pane
but, after reading your email, found that I could complete this if I opened
the email into its own window and then right-clicking on the file then (I
didn't find Remove but did use Cut successfully).

I don't know how I could have missed this but thanks for providing me the
steps!

I am using OL XP and, for images anyway, that procedure doesn't work.

I have a friend who sends very interesting email that I like to keep.
Unfortunately, she also attaches pictures that are not so interesting
-- and take up a lot of room. When I right click the image, there is
no "Remove", not even a "Cut". How can I save her emails without the
picture?

Thanks

This is because they are embedded pictures; part of the content and not
attached.

To succesfully remove these you must open the mail Edit-> Edit Message->
select the picture by clicking on it once and press DELETE.
