Is there a way to add custom animation using random choices?

I don't think it is possible, but with the transitions
one can choose "Random Transitions." Is this possible
with custom animation?

I'm in 2002, and I get a choice for Random Effects in my list of custom animations. However, I vaguely recall someone asking about this a few weeks ago, and that person had a problem because it was actually choosing from all the effects, including the scroll credits effect, which wasn't a good choice (the text would scroll off the screen when it was done).

Sure, it's possible. Here's the instructions for an Entrance effect in
PowerPoint 2002 and PowerPoint 2003

1) Select object to animate
2) Slide Show -> Custom Animation
3) Click on Add Effect -> Entrance -> More Effects....
4) Select "Random Effects" from the "Basics" section of the dialog and
click "OK"

about 60 per lesson. Will I have to do that to each
slide or can I go to the Master and add custom animation

You can do it on the master. Just apply it to the placeholders. this is not
to say I recommend doing it in most cases, but that it can be done. In your
case, it should be ok. test it out a few times before you do it in front of
a group though.

Thank you very much. That was my guess but I am still
very unsure about these things. It does work. Some of
the slides used differnt layouts and it just didn't apply
to them. In the future I will use one layout.

Dot, keep one thing in mind: you probably have *gigabytes* of spare hard drive
space. So when in doubt, choose File, Save As and save a copy of your
presentation under a new name. Then go wild. Try anything that you think
might work to make your presentation more effective and interesting. The worst
thing that can happen is that you'll have to do:

File, Close
File, Open and choose the (untouched, unharmed) original presentation

This also ensures that you'll have a nice "breadcrumb trail" of saved backups
to follow in case your working presentation should become corrupted or
otherwise unusable.
