Is there a way of preventing some users from appearing on the logon screen?

I want some remote file shares to be available to all users a computer
they connect to, without them having any knowledge about the account
used for the logon, and the files on the servers too owned by a user
account that doesn't show on the logon screen. Is there someway to
accomplish this?

TweakUI will allow you to hide users from the Welcome screen.

Alternatively, you can turn off the Welcome screen, and require users to
type their logon names.

Is there some other way to get them to logon after that besides using
TweakUI again, is there a registry option?

At the Welcome screen, if you press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice, the Welcome
screen will go away and you'll be brought to the standard logon screen.
The hidden user name may be typed into the User Name field.

I have tried it and it works - the problem is if you have to logon again
after logging off, switching user, or when the screen saver kicks in,
you cannot log in using the CTRL-ALT-DEL method again, until a restart.

Now how do you get around that? - very frustating

If you don't want the Welcome Screen - get rid of it completely. Change to
classic logon and make people type in their username/password. It seems
whatever reason you have for hiding the particular users is not what the
feature was intended for - obviously.

It seems you are trying to put in place "Security by Obscurity" - not wise,
not effective.

Not to mention - given your initial description - why should you be
switching back and forth amongst the users you have hidden? Isn't this a
setup and go thing - with occassional tweaking?
