For banking applications most of them are still in the prehistoric days and will remaind that way for a long time.  I am trying to find out a better way in vista to not have to change folder permissions to modify for various applications and files that that use.  If I choose "run as an administrator" with the users logged on everything would work great.  I was excited to see that under properties for an exe I can choose to set it to run as an administrator.  I understand you need to be an administrator to check this box in the first place which would be enough security.  I use this option for myself on some programs just so I don't forget to open it as an administrator since some apps need to always be run that way.  The problem is if I check this box a standard user will still need to enter admin credentials but now it will prompt them.  Obviously I don't want to provide a standard user with admin credentials but I would like this one or two programs to run in admin mode for them.  I don't want to turn UAC off.  I was just hopeing UAC would have been the answer to my prayers for these types of issues.  I really don't like having to change local file and folder permissions for all the programs that have an issue.  Some of thee programs install random files in many places.  PLease help me.  Am I just out of luck and need to do it the old fashion way or is there some new amazing way for me to do this?

not sure what you wrote but before you install from cd/dvd, you can mark an
setup.exe as compatible to xp sp2, windows 200, window 95..etc then you can
install form administrator of course but you can run them as standard user
