I want to fill pdf files but don't wish to do it by hand. Is there a
typewriter function in Word?

Hi wolfie45,

PDFs that are meant to be filled in on-line should have textbox fields etc to enable this.

Otherwise, you can probably copy the PDF and paste it into Word as an image, then insert textboxes over each of the fields to be
filled in.

Or print it out and fill it in by hand or with a typewriter.

Hi Suzanne,

I thought the object was to use Word. The OP certainly wanted to avoid filling in by hand ...

Correct. But when a form is supplied as a PDF and is not made to be
fillable, it is often the intention of the supplier that it be filled out by
hand. I have been told that some employers create employment applications
specifically to be filled out by hand with the intention of applying
handwriting analysis (or at least getting some impression of the legibility
of the applicant's handwriting, assuming this may be a BFOQ).
