Is there some kind of "Basic Excel Test" that is out there somewhere or one
that Microsoft has that can be used to test the knowledge or experience of a
user?

Reason is, I need to hire people that atleast have basic excel knowledge or
usage and I want to be able to test them! I had this one guy that I hired
that supposedly had basic excel knowledge and knew how to use it
etc....Well.....let's just say that I should have thought about looking for
this "test" prior to hiring him because he can't even figure out how to do
something as simple as use the "fill-in series" when numbering something!!!
In my area, we use spreedsheets everyday/all day and if you dont have the
basics down, it's not going to work! I dont have the time to give "Excel 101"
training to people.

Thanks for your help!

Yes you can make sure that the person has ECDL / ICDL (just type into a
search engine - this is at the basoc level) or Advanced EXCEL in
spreadsheets.

Or you can make sure that they have passed exam 77-602 (Using Microsoft
Office Excel 2007) Microsoft certification.

Please hit Yes if my comments have helped.

Thanks.

Sorry above should read:-

or Advanced ECDL in
spreadsheets.

Apologies.

the ECDL /ICDL isnt exactly what I'm looking for; that's more of a training
course that includes so many other things.

Now the 77-602 sounds more like what i was looking for, except that it seems
for more of an advanced user. I want something like that but is for a
basic/slightly higher than beginner user. a simple test that that i can say
"here, take do this assesment first and then we can talk about the job".
