Is there a shortcut key or button to go to Slide Master view?

I am trying to find a shortcut key to move from Normal view to Slide Master
view. I can't find any. My instructor yesterday didn't know of any either.
I have tried setting up a macro, but when it takes me to the Slide Master
view, it doesn't show the "left pane" which is a thumbnail of the current
slide master and title master. I can't even find the name of the "left pane"
which would help with searching. The macro code is just:
"ActiveWindow.ViewType = ppViewTitleMaster". Any ideas? Thanks.

You can add a Slide master button that directly goes into the slide master
view.
To do so, click View > Toolbars > Customize.
Click on the Commands Tab.
Under Categories, select View.
Under Commands, look Slide Master.
Drag the Slide master command out and place it on a toolbar.

For shortcut keys, you probably want to take a look at the Shortcut Manager
add-in:

Hi

In addition to tohlz response, holding the shift key while clicking the
'Normal View' button (bottom left hand corner in 2003, moved to bottom right
hand corner for no good reason in 2007 grrrr) gets you into Master View. Not
*purely* a keyboard shortcut, but faster that using the menus. I couldn't
live without it ;-)
