You keep getting it because of feature that by default the Insert key
toggles Overtype mode on and off. The way to stop that happening is to
go to Tools, Options, Edit, and check the feature "Use the INS key for
pasting." This accomplishes two things. The Insert key will stop
turning on the Overtype mode, and you can a handy, one-key method of
pasting.

I can see how Insert could be used as Paste, but it's faster to press Ctrl - V than to pick up your
hand to hit the Insert key. I think it's just a key that serves basically no purpose. heh.

I can see what you mean, except that in my case I reconfigured the
keyboard so that the Home and End keys along with Shift combinations are
used for WordRight, WordRightExtend, and so on, so that using the Insert
key for Paste is very handy. I can do a whole bunch of different
navigating, selecting, deleting/cutting and pasting while not moving my
right hand at all because all the keys I'm using are in the same spot.
