Is there a "repeater" for wireless networks?

you can do one of two things get a better antenna on the router
or get a directional antenna on the workstation.
I would get a better antenna on the router myself.

From the Linksys website..

... and for pricing..

There are alternatives, but some don't work as well as they might, notably
some of the basic 4db and 7db antennas.. the above product is a better bet
but not cheap.. you could try an external 150db antenna, but they are not
cheap either, and you will have to secure your network as these things
broadcast to the world at large..

I have very poor signal strength on my linksys wireless network. The
connection for one workstation that is located one floor above and several
rooms away will only work intermittantly.

I am using Windows XP SP2 on the workstations with a Linksys Wireless G
Broadband router and a Windows 2003 domain controller.

What can I do to enhance signal strength?

In the old cable days there used to be a device called a repeater that
amplified the signal and sent it on down the cable? Is there a similar
concept for wireless?

Thanks
Dave

I am pretty sure you could put an access point between the two if you have some place to put it.
