.... and the time that outlook and outlook express takes to load?

Is there a reason why they both take long (~30sec) to load in winxp?

PS I'v done checkes on a nuber of PC's in my office environment and the same
applies
 
yes, but large is in the range of 500 megs.

if you are using messenger integration, disable it - that will slow it down.
