I cancelled my first reply - please ignore that version it if the
cancellation didn't get to your news server.
After further thought, you can achieve this using different programs. But it
depends on how far you want to go.
A) If you only want to grab text and a photo together (from a web page, for
example) and don't need to edit or change the text, simply:
1) Use a print screen program such as Gadwin print screen
(
http://www.gadwin.com/). There are others out there, if you don't like
Gadwin. That will save the graphic capture into your clipboard (if you set
up the program that way).
2) Paste into MS Paint. Paint will let you rearrange things graphically on
the page (though you won't be able to edit the text). You can also erase
stuff you don't want, add lines, boxes, text, etc.
3) Save as jpeg. Note: If you don't have the Paint jpeg converters or need
to save as a high-quality jpeg, first save as bitmap, re-open in Irfanview
and save at the preferred quality.
B) If you need to edit, format or re-wordwrap the text, do this:
1) Copy directly to the clipboard by selecting the material you want with
the mouse and using Ctrl-C (Don't use screen capture for this or you'll
converted the material into an image.).
2) Open MS Word if you have it (not freeware, obviously) and paste using
Ctrl-V (use Web or Print view!). I don't know if a free word processor, such
as the one in Star Office, will work as well.
3) You'll be able to edit text and move things around, depending on your
knowledge. If you copied off a Web page, you may get the photos and text
locked in frames and/or tables. As an alternative, you can try to copy the
photos and text one piece at a time, pasting them into the Word file
individually. Otherwise, if you have the know-how, you can move the stuff
out of the frames/tables. Moving things into text boxes can make it easy to
move them around the page.
4) Once you rearrange everything in Word, go to step one under A and use a
print screen program to move the final version into MS Paint.
It's not as complicated as it sounds.
I hope that helps. Maybe someone else has a better idea or software, but
that is how I would go about it.
