Burn the single file to a CD. Transfer the file to a new, empty folder on
your friend's computer. Run the file to extract its contents into said
folder. Find the ie6setup.exe file in that folder and run it to install IE.

When installing IE, it's best to first do a power-off reboot, then disable
any anti-virus program you may have running, then do a CTRL+ALT+DEL and End
Task on everything on the list except (Windows) Explorer and Systray. This
method will help prevent any program you may have running in the background,
and the anti-virus software, from interfering with the install of IE. Some
AV software just plain messes up an install of IE, and other programs may be
using a file that IE needs to update/replace/remove.

Unfortunately, this method didn't work for me. All I got was a message
telling me the browser I have installed is already newer than the one I'm
tryig to download. Duh. I'm using an updated PC trying to get a full
download to apply to a network challenged PC at a different location.
