John,
The subject was marked O-T "an O-T Suggestion". There is absolutely
NOT a freeware solution to everything. Whilest you're FAQ thumping
,how about doing something helpful and finding us a freeware solution
so we can stay on topic? Talk is cheap ,solutions aren't always.
WHOA!!!! Hold on there! Nobody's "F.A.Q. thumping". Perhaps you missed
my inclusion of "Please" and "supposed to be" in my reply? You are
simply over-reacting.
I see you doing this quite a bit and it strikes me as a bit annoying.
I've wallowed in the group for a long time, only posting if and when I
had something relevant to say. Police in a free state will almost
always breed resentment. You're not a bad person from what I've
gathered over these many months, so why do you insist on breeding
resentment in acf & btw, where exactly is your badge???
I don't need a badge to post my objections to somebody introducing
discussion of non-freeware into this group. 80)>
If resentment by a few trolls (not calling you one by the way) and
people who don't understand what I'm doing is the cost, then so be it.
John, you've also now managed to start yet another O-T thread, maybe
these things that are pleasing you are hurting you somehow??
Thunder,
It absolutely does not please me to have to post objections to
discussion of non-freeware. Nontheless, I will *always* do what I can
to prevent the dillution of the definition of freeware. And dillution
of the definition of freeware is an offshoot of discussing certain
types of non-freeware in this group. Thus, my ongoing objections to
such discussion (whenever I see it.)
The "O.T." subject header inclusion was never intended as a tool to
allow discussion of non-freeware into this group; rather it was
intended for use when one talks about something like free server space
(useful for freeware site owners) or the other rare *non-software*
discussion.
Think about it: if discussion of non-freeware in this group were to
become commonplace by using the "O.T." subject header inclusion (it's
like littering: "what if everybody did it?") then those who come here
seeking freeware answers by reading the group will have to weed
through all of the off topic posts, may decide that the group has
outlived it's usefulness by developing too high of a noise to signal
ratio, and move on.
There is a certain amount of common sense that is required of
people who post to usenet. That common sense should indicate which
off-topic subjects are unacceptable and which are not when using the
"O.T." subject header inclusion. I hope my clarification of this point
is clear to you.
This is not to say that you shouldn't attempt to communicate
non-freeware solutions to a software need, just not here. You should
try to take it to email or another, more appropriate newsgroup.
Look, I am not the moderator of this UNMODERATED group as many of
the trolls will try to convince you that I think I am. However, I and
others in this group will *always* post objections to discussion of
certain types of non-freeware. Hope this clarifies things.
