Is the virus still present?

After downloading and installing the patch for the recent
RPC virus, I have new symptoms to my brand new laptop. I
have a Dell Inspiron 5100. Since the patch...my computer
does not even connect to any sites and when it does it
freezes. Is the virus still on my computer? If so, is
there a way I can obtain the file on my old computer to a
disk and then pop it into my laptop?

If you mean that you installed the Windows XP patch to prevent the
virus, then the virus may well have been on your computer _before_ you
did that.(That patch does NOT remove the virus.)If that is so, then you
need to follow the steps to remove the virus itself, advice which is
abundantly available.
