Is the P5WD2 Premium a Dog?

I've been considering this motherboard for a new system, and just read a
few dozen posts in the users' forum on the ASUS website. It appears as
if a high number of buyers of this hardware are having heat and heat
related problems, and that ASUS isn't paying a lot of attention to them.

So, what's the verdict on this board?

Don't expect a response, I asked the same question sometime ago. Had no luck
with replies.

I wonder what the problem is, regarding open discussion.

For what it's worth -- I've had this board for about a month and had
no problems with it as far as heat goes. Running a 3.2Ghz P4 Prescott
(640?), 1GB 533 Mhz DDR2 (512x2), nVidia 6600 GT. So I'm not pushing
the envelope exactly, but it's no slouch either.

It does run hotter than any machine I've ever had before, and at first
I was uncomfortable with it. But once I did some reading I found that
the temps were well within specs for normal operation, and I'm not
having any heat related problems. If you're gonna do it make sure you
have good case cooling...

So far my only complaint is that the WiFi-TV card that comes with the
Premium package is a piece of junk. The WiFi part worked okay, but
very limited range. The TV capture card worked okay too, but the
software they expect you to use with it (Cyberlink Power Cinema v4) is
not very good. The radio tuner part of the card worked for about 10
seconds before it died on me. I don't know if that's related to the
crappy software or the actual tuner on the card... So, I don't bother
with that card anymore.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. The WiFi card does not interest me, as we are hard-wired here.
