Hi all:
System: P4, WinXP SP2, 2GB RAM, IE6
In the last couple of weeks, my dialup internet experience has slowed
to a crawl. Google takes 2 minutes to load, and most other pages
timeout before loading. Here's what I've tried so far:
Changed IE settings to allow only 10MB of temporary files
Made sure firewall was enabled
Installed and updated Norton Systemworks, and scanned for viruses,
spyware, etc.
Installed and updated Ad Aware SE, and scanned for spyware
Updated Windows with latest security patches, etc. (this took 7 hours
to download!)
Norton and Ad Aware both found a few things and removed them, but
things are still very slow. I tried Ebay this morning, and though I
could get the main page to load, My Ebay timed out before loading. My
connection says it's running at 48.9kbps, but the animation of the
Windows icon in the upper right corner of IE is very intermittant.
What else can I try? Could it be my ISP? Hardware? Reinstall IE?
Give up and go DSL? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
John.
