I am building my third ever system and still a little unsure about compatibility of hardware.

The system it is replacing is a Win 98 system so I plan to use the FDD and CDROM from it and buy the following:

1 xPC Chips M848A SKT A SiS746 AGP LAN 6channel audio100466
1 xAMD Sempron 2400+ (SDA2400BOX) Processor Skt A 256Cache 333FSB Retail Boxed Processor With 3 Year Warranty65074

I would appreicate it if someone could comment on the reliability etc of the parts.

The machine has to cope with broadband & MS Office.

After reading the post on PCChips MBoards and not wanting to take any chances what about this MBoard instead?

With the spec you mention it is A-OK:thumb: as for the MOBO Pc-chips are a better board than MSI in my opinion, I have used them and had no problems In contrast go for the ASUS A7V600-X ;) as with the RAM go for PC 2700 OR PC3200:thumb:
 
Thats no performance system - but it should work.

Did you look at Socket 754 at all? Better than Socket A - which is a dying platform.

Dont get PC2100 - get PC3200 RAM, and 512Mb of it if you possibly can.

If a motherboard supports a SATA hard drive, get a SATA hard drive. So much easier!

I really dont like the eBuyer generic PSU's, especially low wattage ones... they scare me... How can they sell a case for about £7 inc VAT with a PSU.
 
okay I have listened to Chris with one excpetion the case. It is not £7.
