Hello,

wondering if the dotnet 2 webBrowser control available for windows forms
apps is based on IE 6 or 7?

It's based on whatever you happen to have installed. It's just a thin
wrapper over Shdocvw.dll.

hi, thanks for the reply.

I assume only whatever version of IE you have installed though right? or if
Firefox was your default browser would it be using that? Sorry, I googled
Shdocvw.dll but only got a very short description: "shdocvw.dll is a library
used by Windows applications to add basic file and networking operations",
so I'm not clear on what it does.

thanks again.

No, it will only use IE but whatever version of IE you have installed. So if
you run it on Windows 2003 with IE 6 installed, it uses IE 6. If you run it
on Windows 2008 with IE 7 installed, it uses IE 7, etc. It's like asking
what version of GDI+ Windows Forms uses - it's whatever happens to be there.

Have a look at Wikepedia
