Drivers are available only for windows 98 and older at the nikon
support site. I was never able to get my ls1000 to work and would be
interested in hearing if you get yours to work.
Hi
I managed to get the ls-100 working without problems under win xp pro.
Follow this steps (don't take it amiss if some of the are too obvious
;-)):
- Install the scsi car in a pci slot. In my case my second hand
aha-2490 was
recognized by win xp with no need of drivers - it just happens the
drivers are included in the win xp cd, as with many other adaptec
cards.
- reboot your computer and get inside the scsi card bios (crtl-A in mi
case). Leave all setting as they are (or at least as they should be in
a brand new, unused card) and assing the scsi-id "0" to the card. Save
an reboot.
- Log in win xp as administrator. Download and install adaptec's aspi
layer for win32. It's a simple process, just search for the readme.txt.
- Shutdown computer. Plug the ls-1000 to the scsi card (hd68 pin to c50
pin in my case). Don't forget to attach an active scsi terminator to
the free scanner 50-pin scsi plug.
- Switch up scanner with the computer *turned off*. Wait until scanner
initializes.
- turn on computer. Get inside scsi card bios. Assign scsi id "1" to
scanner and reboot.Leave scanner turned on.
- Log in windows xp as administator. Wait until win xp is aware the
scanner is plugged. You will be asked to connect to windows update to
search & download drivers- click ok, but choosing the "just this time"
option (sorry i use win xp in spanish - it's just a rough translation).
Obvioulsy, you won't get that drivers and the process will end warning
you the "new hardware" may malfunction. However, the scanner works
nicely at this point - vuescan, silverfast, nikonscan.
).
As a matter of fact, you even needn't to try to download the drivers -
this step is needed just to avoid winxp to detect "new hardware" each
time you plug the scanner. By the way, always turn on the scanner
before turning on computer and turn off the scanner after the computer.
Hope it helps.
