I have Windows XP Professional version 5.1.2600.
Should I download / install SP2 or are these upgrades already included in my
version of windows?
Thanks!

Not enough information.
Start button --> Run --> winver --> OK.
What does it say there?

(like: Version 5.1 (Build 2600......))

Sounds like you have XP SP1.

How to tell if SP2 is installed.

Start | Run | Type: winver | Click OK
If it says Service Pack 1, you do not have SP2.
If it says Service Pack 2, you have SP2.

I find the simplest way to tell is to open Control Panel. Click on
System. It will usually open showing the contents of the General tab.
Look at the entry under System:

I rec. getting Serivice pack2, if you don't know if you have it or not, the
easy way is to open the control panle, and look for "security center", if its
there then you HAVE service pack2, if its not, go to
http://microsoft.update.com/ to get it!

Easiest method:
-Right click My Computer (assuming its on Desktop)
-Properties
-Info. should be right there under the General Tab
