Is MyMoney infected files a result of msblast?

There seems to be a rash of MyMoney.mny.pif is infected with the W32.Bugbear.B.Dam virus
going around. Is this a result of the msblast virus Monday of this week?
I have received several of them (e-mails) with some form of MyMoney
files. Just wondering if that is related to msblast or just something
happening?

In my opinion the main reason for problems like yours are - not using an up
to date virus protection that also scans all emails, not keeping your operating
system patches up to date, and not using a properly configured firewall. --- Steve

I would guess as much, I have not heard anything to indicate they were
related, just noticed a real rash of attempts today. As for my system,
well I try to keep ahead as much as possible, anti virus, firewall and
MS updates as soon as I can. I don't know any system is really secure
unless you leave it in the shipping box but at least this round did not
effect me

I would say it is coincidental. I have not heard of any other reportings of that
type being out of the usual. Glad your system is secure.--- Steve

Well, my system is up to day, it was before the msblast problem and I
did not suffer any system problems from it what ever (other than slow
internet for a while). I did not have any patching or updates to do,
they were and have been kept up. As for email, I have virus protection
in place on the system and all the attempts were caught and identified.

My question was simply, is or could the rash of emails being sent with W32.Bugbear.B.Dam
virus this week be a result of the msblast problem (not indicated
anywhere) or is it just coincidental?
