Is my PC Dead?

My OS is Windows XP Pro. The computer has been upgraded with the latest
hardware available last December. It performed perfectly until now.

The computer will boot up, but will not respond AT ALL to any clicks on the
desktop icons. It will not respond to Start to show option to shut down
either. I have to turn the power off to shut it down.

I booted up three times and shut it down three times, but the fault
persists.

I remember reading of others having the same problem in the past. What was
the solution?

I am sending this from my very old faithful stand by.

Hi

Have you tried to boot in safe mode and choose last known good config

Or try boot in safe mode and logon as administrator, use the restore feature to rollback the OS prior to the date before the crash

It sure sounds like your mouse may be the problem. Have you tried
keyboard commands? For example, depress the Windows key to bring up
the start menu.
