HI everyone, I was wondering if someone couldhelp me out
My computer lost its display a couple of days ago, the monitor itsel
when not connected to the pc comes on with the display chang
features, so I think it is good. I have two kingston 512 chips tha
are less than a year old. The MB is a Pcchips. I replaced/upgrade
the hard drive about six months ago to a seagate. When I upgrade
the hard drive I had problems with the display then. I had t
reinsert the video card several times to get it to work, so
upgraded the videocard yesterday thinking it finally bit the dust
but I still have no display. I am thinking it might be th
motherboard. Any help woud be greatly appreciated

Not nearly enough information. When you turn the PC on, does ANYTHING
happen? Fans spin? Mainboard beeps? Anything? When you say it lost its
display, was the computer on and running when that happened?

I'm thinking the video card issue is a red herring, and your motherboard
might be bad. But, there's not enough information here. This could also be
a power supply issue. -Dave

Try booting without the video card, any beeps? If not, it likely
isn't the video card, either mainboard or power supply is most likely;
if the psu is some noname piece of junk replace it first.

Thanks for the quick replies

The computer powers on, all the lights work, the hard drive spins, th
fans kick on, and it seems like it sends a signal to the monitor, bu
no display. I hear no beeps at all when it starts

The computer was running at the time, but I was no where near it.
just found it with a black screen.

Thanks in advance for any info

OK, I'm guessing your mainboard is dead. Normally, this would be a power
supply issue, so it COULD be a bad power supply. But my gut instinct is
more often right than wrong, and my gut says you've got a dead mainboard. I
admit I could be wrong, though. -Dave
