anyways to the main thing. recently my dvd burner when i have turned on the comp has not been recognized by windows but sometimes you can see it in bios but not in windows. And then sometimes you can see it in windows. When i can see it in windows i try to install a game but then i get an error at different points every time disk one or disk two it i s in a random spot and it says "cyclic redundancy error" and then it cancles the install of the game. i have two copies of the game *dont ask why* and i tried with both copies and it does the same thing with both of them so that is why i think it is the drive but i aint sure so what dya think??

thanks in advance

Does it do it with other CDs too?

I'd replace the cable like Murdoch suggested, but if that fails and the BIOS misses then it is probably faulty. Luckily CD/DVD drives are cheap as chips now. £20 for a DVD/RW drive and even less for something else.

yer i have checked the ide and i have nmoticed that when i have my third hd plugged into the same cable it isnt recognized by bios but when it aint it is recognised could that be a power issue aswell????

Could be, can you replace ide cable & also use a different power connector or do you not have any spare?

no spare ide but i can use different power connector will try later but i believe there to b a prob with the crive unfortunately:(
