No, it's not. You need a copy of Office 97 Developer edition for a
licence to distribute the Access run-time.

Thanks for the answer. Simple yet very clear. but....

Ok, Very Stupid question perhaps: But If I wuld buy a developers version,
create the most simple of database with it, and relase it as freeware, I may
include the MS-Access runtime?

In other words: If I buy a Developers licence, I am entitled to give the
runtime to everyone who uses my database for free?

(It must be me, but this kind of licence sound stange)
(Don't worry, I don't have the cash for it ;-) )

I think it's just like MS C++ or Delphi. Once you purchase the program, you
can freely distribute anything you create with it.

Yes, that's correct. You can distribute your database royalty free to
anyone who choose. You are distributing the Access run-time files which
will only allow the user to use your database app(s). It does not allow
the creation of new databases. In otherwords, you are not distributing
the full-blown Access app.

Don't forget that the user can't do anything in terms of design with the
Run-time. I sometimes think that MS have this licence because they can't
build an Access compiler to create an 'Access' executable.

I usually build a VB front-end to an Access database. The only downside is
that you need something like Crystal Reports, or the user has to have some
kind of Word Processor that can be driven using Automation, in order to
create the reports.
