Is Movie Maker right for me?

I need a simple movie editing program. I've been asked at my work to doon a
PC what I've been doing in a Mac using iMovie..namely, I need to input video
footage from VHS and DVD (via FireWire using a Canopus converter) to make
/edit/create short demo reel movie clips for uploading to our server. (No
need to burn a DVD.) Will Movie Maker allow me to import and edit the
footage and easily add music if needed? What formats can I save the edited
movies in (QuickTime, MPEG, etc)? Will the saved movies be easily viewable in
both PC and Macs (with the proper programs)? Thanks.

It's perhaps not quite as sophisticated as imovie, but should suit your
needs ok.
It will save the movie file in dv-avi (similar to the mov from Mac) and in a
variety of wmv formats for web work.
If you want quicktime or mpeg you'll need to use another app, Quicktime Pro
would be my choice here, using the dv-avi file from Movie maker..

Graham,

Thanks for the info. MM sounds good. I'll give it a try. Another question:
Some source files that I might need to load into MM would be a AT movie from
an artists webpage, and their movie may be in QT format. What would I need to
import this into MM? I have QT Pro, so that will allow me to save the movie
to my desktop, but would I need to use QT Pro to convert the .mov file into a
..avi for MM, if it will let me do that?

Sorry this is not a reply - but I can not figure out how to post a question.
I can not upload songs from my library onto my movie maker. It says that it
is blocked or copywrited music. How do I get it to not be blocked and upload
onto my movie?
