My son started a project using Windows Movie Maker on a computer that has
Vista on it and is needing to finish it up on a computer that has XP on it.
When he tries, he gets the message that he is doing it using a version that
is not compatible. Is there anything he can do to make it compatible. Also,
if this is possible, can he then play it on a computer with XP. Please help
as soon as possible. His project is due tomorrow.

Thanks!

The Vista .mswmm project files are not compatible
with Movie Maker 2.1 on WinXP.

If you Publish the video on the Vista machine...you
should be able to view it in Windows Media Player
on the WinXP machine.

Mr. Inzer: My XP Media player 11 does not play mswmm files. If you can,
please show me a little more clues. Thanks.

mswmm files are Movie Maker project files, not video files that play
anyplace else. You need to publish the movies to AVI or WMV files to then
play them.

==================================
If you *Publish* the project as I stated in my
first message...it will no longer be a .mswmm
file...it will be either .wmv or .avi and and *yes*
WMP11 will play it.

Have a look at the following article:

I met with the same problem but the vista computer is not mine. can
more clear instructions be given? my friend is at a loss of what to
do when she gets to that website.

When you piggyback on an existing thread
and state "same problem"...it is very hard
to help you solve the issues.

It's always best to begin a new thread and
provide a detailed description of the
problem you are trying to solve.
