Hello,

I've had an 8500 128 for the last few years and I'm wondering if it woth
upgrading to a 9600XT?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks,

Jeff

I recently did the same upgrade, and apart from some better 3dmark scores
I'm still wondering why.....

a 9800 on the other hand is a different kettle of fish! They getting
cheaper by the minute and I wish I'd have waited.

................just my 2penneth.

To be able to use FSAA and Ani filtering without getting too low FPS?

Sure, the 9800 Pro is a lot better, I agree.... Probably the best bang for
the buck now.

Yes the DX9 9x serie from ati is faster then their old generation..but
also contains new tricks to speed up things. Like if you play DivX
with DivX Player... the shaders on the ati card will take over much of
the workload.

Impressive not... and it works great. First I got 20-25% cpu usage
when playing DivX, with both my ati cards.. I have 3-11%

And generally it just takes more workload from the pc so your pc can
do more...

So I would say yes.. it's smart to upgrade.
