For nearly 3 years, I have been using Outlook Express as my Verizon DSL Mail
Reader. I am now thinking of finally creating a up-to-date address book
and contact information for people that I associate with. Therefore I have
now decided to take the "bold step" to switch over to Outlook 2002 but have
a few questions to ask beforehand:

#1) How can I make sure that all of my Local Folders (Inbox, Outbox, Sent
Items, Deleted Items, etc...) will be saved and imported into Outlook 2002
from my Outlook Express 6.0?

#2) Will my current "Contact List" be saved and imported into Outlook 2002?

#3) I understand that newsgroups cannot be accessed from within Outlook
2002. What program should I be using then to continue to have access to my
newsgroups

#4) Is it correct that with Outlook 2002, I will be able to maintain a much
better / efficeint and compatible "contact list" of people and their
personal data, which is going to be more compatible with importing/exporting
to other programs for things like Palm or Windows-based PDAs? This is in
comparison to what Outlooks Express offers....

#5) Anything else I should know before I take this bold step? Yes, I
already own Office XP... and No, I don't want to use other programs like
Eudora....

Thanks!

Use Outlook Express' export feature to export all of your
messages/folders into Outlook.
#2) Will my current "Contact List" be saved and imported into Outlook 2002?
Not sure, as I haven't used Outlook Express Contacts much. Your
address book will export nicely.
#3) I understand that newsgroups cannot be accessed from within Outlook

Outlook uses Outlook Express by default for newsgroup reading, so, if
don't want to change newsreaders, you're all set. You are, of course,
free to use ANY news reading program. I would try others, as they may
meet your needs better than Outlook Express.
#4) Is it correct that with Outlook 2002, I will be able to maintain a much
better / efficeint and compatible "contact list" of people and their
personal data, which is going to be more compatible with importing/exporting

Yes, Outlook's Contacts are VERY adaptable.
#5) Anything else I should know before I take this bold step? Yes, I

I used Eudora for years but find Outlook meets my needs better now.

If you just export all of your messages & address book from Outlook
Express into Outlook, you won't be taking any risks. You can try using
Outlook and, if it doesn't meet your expectations, you can just go
back to using Outlook Express.

Best regards.
