is it safer to uninstall sp3 in safe mode?

I have a client that has to remove sp3 off because he just found out that a
program he needs is not compatable yet with sp3.

Sp3 loaded beautifully but now we have to remove it.

Do you think it is safer for me to to take it off in safe mode than reg
mode? via add/remove?

I've removed beta versions of it many times without going to safe mode. I
wouldn't worry about it.

Do read the release notes carefully, though. I think the only issue I am
aware of is if you have installed the IE 8 beta after SP3--but I'm not sure
how that works--if that's involved--do some research, but that is unlikely
for most people.

no he has ie 6 on it only- thank goodness
I really only configured his wireless router and set up his wireless
connection then installed sp3 then AVG 8.0 free
nothing else yet since the laptop is brand new. I did not get the chance to
do anything else (thank goodness) because he called me and told me about his
problem.

Bill it is safe to assume I will have to do all the security updates prior
to sp3?
The computer was installed with sp2
It doesn't leave the security updates does it?

Hi Robinb,

Now, I can stop to scracht my head. ;-)

I was wondering the relation between SP3, OptiPlex 740
and Windows Vista.

It will be at the same update level as it was when SP3 was applied. Do an
express check once it restarts.

Well bill it uninstalled successfully by doing it reg through add/remove
software. He now has 36 additional security updates from 1994 to present
left to reinstall.
Which I plan to help him with on Monday.

thanks
