Hello,
Under my root folder there were created the following 4 folders:
Found.000,Found.001,Found.002, Found.003,Found.004.
they includce a *.chk files. (On of them ha a very big vhk file - 84 MB).
I assume it has to do with shutting down windows uncleanly as
a result of a power down or reset the PC when it is stuck.
Am I right ?

can I delete these folders with no risk ?

regards,
sting

These files were created by CHKDSK (or similar) during an automatic
disk scan performance after (what you indicate) an abnormal
system shutdown. Files contain clusters of "pages" from files that
seemed to CHKDSK as damaged files (but do not necessarily
have to be such). One is supposed to be able to restore (parts of)
damaged files from this "clusters". If you don't seem to miss files
or detect files that are destroyed, you can safely delete the *.chk
files.

These were created by chkdsk when it tried to recovery from file system
corruption.

Yes, you can delete them.

This is what I would do if it were mine:

1. Do an inplace upgrade
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=292175

2. Change the extensions on the files you question with an extension of .old at the end.
And run your computer for a week, if it does not squawk, they are probably safe to be
deleted.
