Is it right that a MOD civil servant should get £200,000 compensation after "straining" his back lifting a typewriter when a soldier, severely injured by mortar blasts, fighting for his country, gets £57,000.

What do you think?

Of course it's not right.

Did you see that case where some idiot tried to sue a restaurant for slipping on a grape in the car park? Judge rightly threw him out on his ear.

We're being Americanised. Next time you see a car with one of those stickers proclaiming 'Injured? Not your fault? Phone......' break out with the paint stripper and the Stanley knife

j/k ;)

Someone injured whilst serving for Queen & Country and sent by The Government to help out in a Foreign War Zone should be offered the same compensation, but sadly this seems not to be the case, it needs the Government to sought it out!!

I don't know if you'd agree, but prior to "reforms" being made, some women soldiers were awarded huge sums in compensation for being dismissed from the Army after becoming pregnant! Ridiculous! After all, that is one condition that is wholly preventable.... not to mention being against Army Regulations at that time.

It was so sad to see that young Serviceman on the News recently, who had been terribly burnt, poor lad, only to hear of the struggle he and others are having to receive a half-way decent pay settlement which would provide them with a worry-free future.

No its not blo**y right at all . Those weak minded half wits in the government should be ashamed of themselves . They could sort out this utterley reprehensible fiasco in a couple of minutes .

Imagine all the mps in parliment . One stands up and proposes decent payouts for the wounded soldiers . All the mps stand up and shout AYE . Job done .

Mind you thats in fantasy land .

Read the small print before signing up. ;)

There has always been a sliding scale set of rules regarding injuries. As an example, you only used to get compensation for the first three major injuries, then that's your lot.

Injuries compensation has always been a sore point in any of the armed forces ... hey, it goes with the 'job' donit.

I hear now that in future soldiers suffering from multiple injuries will be assessed on all of them, and the sliding scale will be scrapped. The present £285,000 maximum award, however, will remain.
