Is it possible to wateermark background pictures in Mower Point?

You know how it's some times hard to find a font color that shows up good and
is easy to read. If we could Watermark the Background it would help.
 
If it's a picture inserted through insert > picture and send to back you can
select it and with the picture toolbar select color > washout or adjust
brightness / contrast.

If it's a true background from format background you can either right click
save background, set the background to white and reinsert as above OR place
a white rectangle over the slide and set the transparency in "more fill
colors" to eg 30%

Also, if you are using PowerPoint 2002/XP and above,
You can go to the Slide Master (View > Master > Slide Master).
Insert the image through Insert > Picture > From File.
Send the image to the back, then click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
Click Add Effect > Emphasis > Transparency. Set the transparency of your
preference.
