try using a newsreader like Outlook express - the web interface is
limited....but it should hold a history of messages (for as many days as the
server retains them, I would have thought).

One way I found by accident is unsubscribe from the newsgroup and then
resubscribe. The newsgroup will [or did] download ALL messages that it
has available.
