Is it possible to run the outlook calendar at startup so that I will get
reminder popups without having the whole outlook program running.

You need outlook running to get reminders. You can set the calendar to be
the start up folder, but you'll get reminders whether or not the calendar is
the start up folder.

Wha about simply putting a shortcut in the startup menu with the option of
minimized, so it starts but is not drowning the screen, or just simply put
it in the startup, let it open as thought you launched it.
